Batteries rated 12V 4AH and
12V 7AH are used in 98% of
hardwired home alarm systems.
For your system both will work just fine. The 7A will provide backup power
for the panel and devices for a longer time versus 4A battery.
Physical size is important as you want to make sure was left enough room
in the control panel by the installer, for wire, circuit board, extra
parts ( relay, expander etc..) and a large 7A battery.
You have also a easier way to know if old battery is 4A or 7A.
Open control panel and read the characteristics of the old battery.
The rating of the battery can be determined
from the manufacturer's number, :
PowerSonic PS1240 is a 12V 4AH
DSC BD-412 is also a 12V 4AH
DSC BD-712 is a 12V 7AH
These batteries are used in most alarm systems
by ADEMCO, Alarm Lock , CADDX , DSC, Alcad, Detection Systems , Light
Alarm, NAPCO, Paradox and many others .

releases excess gas if pressure rises above normal. Resealing is
